How to Install a Non-Electric Bidet Attachment and Use It Every Day

What this attachment does — and does not do
The Marine Dana Bidet Attachment for Toilet ($57.50) is a slim, non-electric attachment that sits between the toilet bowl and the seat. It adds water cleaning to the toilet you already have, without replacing the full seat and without needing an electrical outlet.
It has dual retractable self-cleaning nozzles for rear and feminine wash, and adjustable water pressure so each user can choose a gentler or stronger rinse. It does not provide heated water, a heated seat, or warm-air drying. If those features matter, the store's heated bidet seat starts at $169 — but that is a different, electric product.
This guide explains fit, installation in general terms, and daily use. Always follow the supplied owner guide for your exact model, and ask a qualified installer or plumber if plumbing access, water shutoff, or fit is uncertain.
1. Check fit before you open the box
- Toilet type: Designed for most standard toilets with accessible seat bolts and a water supply connection.
- Size: 16 in L x 5.3 in W x 4.3 in H, weighing 2.2 lb. Check the space under the seat first.
- Water access: Check that the toilet tank supply valve and hose area are easy to reach.
- What is included: Bidet attachment, tank adapter, flexible hose, and owner guide.
Keeping the product unused, uninstalled, and in its original packaging matters for change-of-mind returns, so do the fit check before installation if you are unsure.
2. Installation, step by step
- Read the owner guide first. Part names and connection order in the guide take priority over any general summary.
- Turn off the water supply to the toilet and follow the guide's instructions for relieving pressure in the line.
- Connect the tank adapter and flexible hose as shown in the guide, checking that connections are seated and not cross-threaded.
- Place the slim attachment between the bowl and the seat, using the existing seat bolts as described in the guide, and confirm the attachment sits flat and does not shift.
- Turn the water back on slowly and check every connection for leaks before first use. Tighten or re-seat a connection only as the guide directs; do not force a fitting.
- Test the nozzles away from the seat first, starting at the lowest pressure setting, and confirm the rear and feminine wash positions work as expected.
If a connection will not seal, the toilet shape does not match, or you cannot reach the supply valve safely, stop and ask a qualified installer or plumber. A small leak left running can cause more damage than a delayed installation.
3. Daily use: start low, then adjust
- Start at low pressure. Increase gradually until the rinse feels comfortable. There is no need to start at full pressure.
- Choose the wash you need. Use the rear wash for general cleaning and the feminine wash setting when that is appropriate.
- Let the nozzles retract. The dual nozzles are retractable and self-cleaning, which helps keep them protected between uses.
- Pat dry as needed. This is a cold-water, non-electric wash with no warm-air dryer, so a small amount of toilet paper or a towel is still part of the routine for most people.
- Share the bathroom kindly. If different people use the same toilet, agree on a default low-pressure starting point and adjust from there each time.
4. Cleaning and simple upkeep
- Wipe the outside of the attachment with a soft cloth as part of normal bathroom cleaning. Avoid harsh abrasives unless the owner guide specifically allows them.
- Check connections occasionally for slow drips, especially in the first week after installation.
- If water pressure changes suddenly, or a nozzle does not retract, stop using the wash function and check the guide's troubleshooting section or contact support@marinedana.com.
- Do not open or modify internal parts. That is not part of normal upkeep and can affect fit and sealing.
5. When a different product fits better
A non-electric attachment is a good first step for renters, budget buyers, and anyone who wants to try bidet washing without electricity or a seat replacement. It is not the right choice if the main need is a higher seat, support arms, heated water, or warm-air drying.
- For a raised seat plus support arms and a non-electric wash in one system, see the All-in-One Toilet Safety System ($298).
- For instant warm water, an adjustable heated seat, and warm-air drying, see the Smart Heated Bidet Toilet Seat (Standard $169; Auto-Opening $199).
- For the full range, browse the Bathroom Aids collection.
Installed well and used at a comfortable pressure, a non-electric bidet attachment is a simple way to make an everyday routine cleaner and more comfortable — without rewiring the bathroom or replacing the toilet.
